Cairo, Egypt · July 2026

I'm going to Egypt

to change lives with my hands.

I've been selected to join a first-of-its-kind medical tattoo mission

alongside Operation Smile Egypt — and

I want my community to know why this matters.

The Giveback Immersion Egypt · July 30 – August 4, 2026

The Mission

This is what we do

when we show up.

Children born with cleft lips in underserved communities often go years — sometimes their

entire childhoods — without access to reconstructive care. The scar tissue left behind

affects how they eat, speak, smile, and how the world sees them. Medical tattooing can help

restore the appearance of the lip, reduce the visibility of scar tissue, and give these children

back something they never had: a chance to just look like everyone else.

What I'll Be Doing

Two days.

Real patients. Real impact.

🏥

Clinical Tattooing

Working directly on pediatric patients —

using advanced scar camouflage and lip tattooing

techniques to restore the appearance of cleft

lip repairs alongside Operation Smile Egypt's medical team.

📚

Training Local Practitioners

Part of our mission is education. Helping train local

dental students and practitioners in PMU

technique so this work can continue long after we leave.

Knowledge doesn't expire.

🤝

Mentored by Mandy Sauler

Working under the direct mentorship of Mandy Sauler —

one of the most respected medical tattoo

artists in the world, who has been volunteering

with Operation Smile for years.

🌍

First of Its Kind

The inaugural Giveback Immersion Egypt —

the first program combining PMU artist

education with real mission-based clinical

volunteering. Only 4–6 artists worldwide were selected.

The Clinical Days

Two full days at

Operation Smile Egypt

These are the heart of the entire experience — two dedicated days working inside

Operation Smile Egypt's clinic in Cairo.

Day One · July 31

Clinical Work Begins

Full clinical day — hands-on scar

camouflage and lip tattooing on

pediatric patients. Working alongside

Operation Smile Egypt's dental and

medical team with direct mentorship

from Mandy Sauler.

Day Two · August 1

Training & Continued Care

Continued clinical work on patients

plus a training workshop for local

dental students — passing the

knowledge forward so the

mission lives beyond our

time there.
